The eye finds:

• movement before static

• close before far away

• big before small

• pictures before text

• realistic pictures before abstract (usually)

• coloured before black and white

• bright colours before others

• warm colours before cold colours

• dark before light

• unusual forms before conventional ones

• exceptional before regular
