In the Master's thesis the advantages and disadvantages of the optical fibre and wireless data transmission in local area networks are discussed. By sharing the LAN resources and by using suitable software different equipment can be connected together to enable a rational joint use of them. The installed local area network makes possible the standardisation of the cablelines, equipments and programs. The continuity mid development of the local area network are important At first the technology of the local area network is described optical fibre, passive and active components, powerbudget and bandwidth, single mode fibre versus multimode fibre in the local area network and the metropolitan area network; the choice among appropriate cablelines for the future needs. The flexibility of the local area network in the changing of the organization in short and long terms are described next. As a survey of literature the solutions of protection on common level and the differcnces in the traditional local area network and the wireless network are discussed. The differences in using infrared, laser and microwave technology are considered using articles in newspapers and leaflets. As an example the solution on the principal level in cablelines and the local area network in a healthcare foundation are presented. Next the alternatives in the technology in the design of the local area network are presented. The solution is the closed local area network. The benefits are the internal effectiveness in control of knowledge, the mutual communications and customers services. Also the practical solution between the main building and the side building are presented as a wireless alternative |
