Esittely:

Modern day telecommunication connections are usually established by using dedicated telecommunication networks. Probably the most familiar of them are the ordinary telephone network (Public Switched Telephone Network), the GSM (Global System for Mobile) and of course the Internet that is based on TCP/IP protocol suite. The next generation UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) that is based on great deal in CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) will be a hot topic of 2002 increasing mobile data rates orders of magnitude enabling thus the true interactive mobile multimedia applications.

Objective of this course is to inspect and summarize the major features of the today's most popular telecommunication networks as well as the UMTS, and to get oneself familiar to the related standardization work established by ITU (International Telecommunications Union), ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and various other worldwide standardization bodies. The focus of this course is in the understanding of the network interface dynamics (connecting the network elements) and in the concise inspection of the inherent network topology and network node functionalities. Lecture and tutorial handouts will be available for downloading.

Tentti + kotiharjoitukset

Tentti järjestetään yhdessä päiväkoulun kanssa. Seuraava tentti 19.12.2003, 13-16, salissa AB. Ilmoittaudu tenttiin webTopilla.
Kotiharjoituksia (vapaaehtoisia). Tehtävät 1-3 voit ladata täältä. Tehtävät 4 & 5 tehdään yhdessä päiväpuolen kanssa. Tehtävät voi palauttaa kurssin palautuslaatiikkoon (kolmas kerros, E-siipi) tai sähköpostilla osoitteeseen: mika.nupponen@hut.fi. HUOM! Tehtäviin 4 & 5 vastataan englanniksi!
Loppuarvosana lasketaan kaavalla: tentti + 0,15 * Laskuharjoitukset
