It is most important to understand the underlying key principles and to try to solve practical design problems on your own. Some problems have been presented in groups and some more will be provided shortly on the WWW pages. 

The exam consists of two parts. The first part is done without source material, and it comprises three tasks where general principles, definitions etc. are asked for. After the answers have been given to the exam supervisor, the two problem-oriented (design) tasks of the second part are given to the student. In this part the use of books (Halsall or Tanenbaum recommended) is allowed. Note: Handouts, slides or other material (for example printed from internet) is not allowed! 

• There will be 3 short questions on technical details (closed book) and 2 case-like questions (open book) 
• Registration for the exam is done with Topi .
